Thomas Sanders - BA (Hons) Fashion Management

Why LCF?

I chose London College of Fashion as a first option to study abroad because of the awesome course content and placement year option. Coming from a partial degree in Business Administration and a few years of fashion industry experience, LCF was the best choice to combine my strengths and interests into a degree. When going through the application process the international staff were (and continue to be) very friendly and really made the decision a lot easier. The idea of studying fashion on one of Europe's foremost fashion capitals was a chance I couldn't stand to miss!

Best part of the course?

The best part of the course for me can be described a few ways - but foremost it is the placement year. I am very excited to be going on it - and I think the year of working in the industry will give me a definite edge after I graduate. I am also very excited to go on the placement year because a year in industry in London will be different than what I am used to, so the challenge and the lessons I will learn will be very valuable.

Most valuable advice you've been given?

That would definitely be to learn from others. At LCF (or in London in general) you can always learn something new from someone else. LCF and London are both unique in the fact that everyone you meet will have many life stories to tell - many with life lessons - every day!

What or who inspires you most?

Definitely my family and friends, I wouldn't be able to do what I have done without the support and guidance. Looking at my friends gives me inspiration to do more and to live life to the fullest - and looking at my family inspires me in a more personal way.

Ultimate Ambition?

My ultimate ambition is to own my own fashion brand in the future. With my degree and a few years of industry, I hope to break into it after being a brand manager for a few years. That is my ultimate ambition because it is what I have always (and continue to) work for.

What is London life like?

Indescribable! I`ve been here almost two years and have seen some amazing things - fashion, culture, exhibitions and architecture! And I`ve only seen about a third of it... What I most like about London is the multicultural aspect - there are pockets of the world all over London. The people are all so unique, making friends is easy, and there is nothing like a good afternoon spent in a pub! Being an international student also is great in London, as it isn`t long before you run into someone from your country, or even someone from your hometown! London is also a gateway into Europe which makes travel easier and, well, it is just a fantastic city!
