Emma-Louise Savill - FdA Fashion Marketing & Promotion (Online Delivery)

Tell us a little bit about yourself Emma

I am a second year student studying Fashion Marketing and Promotion online. As well as studying on the course I work for a marketing agency in Richmond, so as you can imagine I don't really have much time for anything else at the moment! I've always had an ambition to work within the fashion industry, and my dream job is work within the marketing department of a luxury fashion brand.

Why did you choose to study at LCF?

I chose LCF because the college is very highly regarded within the fashion industry. As the industry is so competitive I wanted to ensure I obtained my degree from LCF to give me a step up against the competition.

Why did you choose this particular degree?

Because I still wanted to work full time whilst studying. And this course gives me the flexibility to study at home on-line, after work and at weekends.

Can you tell us something about particular projects you have worked on - and which you have enjoyed the most so far?

A work placement project for Estee Lauder was a really excellence chance for us to have our work seen by someone respected in the industry. The Marketing Manager for Estee Lauder. We also received feedback from Estee Lauder on our work, which was great.

The course is run online. How does this tie in with the rest of your life - and how many hours (on average) to you study per week?

This ties in perfectly with the rest of my life because I work full time. It does mean sacrificing my social life, but in the long run it's worth it.

How do you get your assignments? And how are you assessed?

All of our assignments are uploaded to Blackboard, (a virtual learning platform) which allows me to log in as and when I like to download the assignment and check any comments from the tutors regarding the course. The examination board assesses our work and our results are published on blackboard - with feedback from the tutors.

Did you receive any financial help towards the cost of the course? Can you tell us about this if you have?

The first year of the course I paid for myself, but the second year I did receive financial help by applying for a student loan to cover the cost of the course.

Do you feel that 'miss out' in any way not studying in London and in college?

I don't feel I have missed out by not studying in college in London. I've lived in London all my life so I haven't missed out on the social life of London. The one thing I do miss on this course is not being able to see your fellow colleagues, so we do make sure we communicate by email and phone Having said that we do meet up occasionally to socialise!
