Shoe making: the court shoe

Shoe lasts

An introduction to the terminology and processes involved in making court shoes. You'll be asked to put your skills to the test, making a pair of ladies court shoes to a standard pattern using the supplied materials and components.

The course includes:

  • Clicking (cutting out the upper)
  • Closing (stitching the upper)
  • Introduction to industrial footwear machinery
  • Preparing the sole
  • Lasting (shaping the leather)
  • Attaching heels and soles

The shoe will be made to a standard pattern and within the style/size capabilities of the studio. This is a construction course with no design element involved.

You will need to bring:

HB pencils, eraser, pencil sharpener and roll of masking tape (1 inch wide). All other specialist equipment will be provided
