Is Green the New Black?
May 2007
Ever wondered how eco fashion can ever go mainstream? Not ready to ditch your trips to Primark quite yet?
London College of Fashion is asking what the future holds. The Green is the New Black campaign was a week of events and activities in May 2007 that helped begin to unravel some of the most complex issues that face the fashion industry today. Exciting guests and fashion radicals who have contributed to our campaign include Galahad Clark and the team at Terra Plana, Amoosi, Topshop, Adili, People Tree, Traid, Caryn Franklin, Lucy Siegle, Goodone, Sublime Magazine, Marks & Spencer, Jo Wood, Howies, Julia Smith, Chooplips, Ethical Fashion Forum, Feather Duster, Environmental Justice Foundation and many more...
Since our green week, Green is the New Black has run various workshops, clothes swaps and debates. Other achievements include the launch of the Centre for Sustainable Fashion, the release of Professor Sandy Black's book Eco-Chic: The Fashion Paradox, a successful collaboration with Oxfam and the forthcoming MA Fashion & the Environment.
