London College of Fashion has developed a programme of specifically designed part time courses. The part time programme has been developed in consultation with industry and is committed to forging new industrial and creative partnerships that will enrich the vocational nature of your selected route. The courses take place on two evenings per week and on Saturdays, depending on your area of study, and are taught from a variety specialist sites situated within central London.

The programme is divided into clear vocational building blocks that aim to provide a balanced educational experience and which will develop a sound knowledge combined with a realistic and practical understanding of the demands of the industry.

The Fashion Design Realisation course will enable you to develop a solid grounding in the practical, theoretical and business related issues relevant to understanding the fashion industry and exploring the concepts of fashion innovation and technology. You will develop your critical understanding of the fashion industry through the principles of creative design, research, analysis, and the development of fashion ideas through 2D and 3D experiementation. You will explore the realisation and production of the fashion product with industry and commercial objectives.

The specialist units will introduce you to the creative, intellectual, technical and communication skills that are required to operate successfully in this area of the fashion industry, whilst the course will equip students with the wider professional, communication and business skills needed to succeed in today's challenging creative industries.

The course is taught in three stages over four years. Each stage is taught over four terms. The modular structure allows students maximum flexibility to complete at their own pace and exit at three possible points; Certificate of Higher Education (4 terms), Diploma of Higher Education (8 terms), BA (Hons) Fashion Studies: Design Realisation (4 years).

Graduates will have the necessary skills and experience to progress onto postgraduate study or to enter the fashion industry within a broad range of opportunities. For Fashion Design and Realisation, this could include roles as designers, design assistants, designer pattern cutters, assistant merchandisers, buyers and forecasters.

Showing your Work

All final year students are given the opportunity to profile their work online using the Showtime section of the University and College websites.
